Hospitality is a word derived from the latin word “hopes” meaning visitors, host or stranger and welcoming the guest with offering a home away from home. Therefore hospitality industry is a wide spread industry including activities depending upon travel, tourism and hospitality which includes:
-Hotel & Restaurant
-Travel & Transport
-Tourism
-Resorts & Night clubs
-Cruise liners 
-Airline 
-Convention centers etc
Hospitality is one of the oldest businesses carried back to the innkeepers and tavern of the biblical times. Hospitality involves understanding, anticipating, and surpassing guest expectations, whether there are familiar faces or new acquaintances who come for receiving service, best known for its friendly and generous nature In addition hospitality is crucial for building connections between different cultures and promoting understanding among people from diverse backgrounds. The industry impacts other industries which benefits from hospitality as event management, retail, real state, banking and finance, education, IT industry, Health care. Hospitality industry is made mainly with a collection of fields including service industry mainly focusing on the guests and visitors who make travel out of their place of residence. It mainly covers the main four primary segments of the industry
Food and Beverage
It consists of the facilities and business that sells food and drinks that are meant to be consumed by a guest having a ding option or off the premises. 

Accommodation
This mainly covers and designed to accommodate the guest for their night stay and rest. Eg hotels, motels, floatels etc

Recreation and Amusements
This includes any business focused on providing enjoyment during the leisure of the guest and are equipped for dining facility during the visit.

Travel &Tourism
It relates to the accessibility of the visitors from origin to destination and vice versa. It targets both leisure traveler and business.

Besides, all the components of the tourism industry including the accommodation, accessibility, attraction and amenities have created  synergy between all other sectors and other sectors.
Covering these segments hospitality industry has made a drastic impact in creating and impacting local, national and global economy through the job creation, cultural exchange and foreign currency exchange.
अतिथिदेवो भव in its heart meaning is “a guest is a deity”. We are very close with the phrase where we welcome our guest arriving to our home in the hope of receiving some hospitality. So it is very significant that the Veda teaches us to treat strangers with hospitality and respect. It is very necessary and advantageous that the industry is important and has been contributing to many reasons. Some of the contribution is as follows:
Employment opportunity
It is expected 1.22 million of jobs will be created by tourism industry covering 15.20% of total job through the country. It is been contributing to the direct and the indirect revenue generation of the individuals.

National income
The contribution of the sector to the national income is increasing. It is estimated that the revenue from the sector will reach $444.80 million according to Statist Market Forecast. It is also projected Nepal’s economic growth will accelerate to 5.1% in FY 2025.

Cultural preservation
Nepal very rich in its cultural diversity can be a place for attracting the tourist from all over the world come to enjoy. Nepal encompasses wide cultural belonging to 125 distinct ethnic group. Cultures may be expressed through various dance, festivals, food & drinks, religion, art & craft.

Development of infrastructure
Tourism has always supported for the infrastructural development like roads, airports, hotels improving the access to the entire touristic destination.

Connectivity
Tourism can make a bond in the world about the image of Nepal and thus promote the flourishing connection through the world.

Thus we can say that Nepal being a landlocked country and in between two enormous countries India and China where most of the population of the world resides can be benefited from tourism. Being the country of the world where highest peak Mt. Sagarmatha  is located can be a brand for the industry.
